the tri-coastal battle: going back to cali…

Last week merely hours after leaving the beautiful soil lining the pch, elrock hit the ubf fam with his ode to why the red dirt is the best stomping grounds. First and foremost, I must admit he raised some valid points (hoping not to lose my waffle house membership card) but I’m not sure I’m ready to jump on that bandwagon just yet…

You see I just read a study that 9 out of 10 blog readers prefer the west coast when given the chance to pick their preferred coastal allegiance. Now granted Suge Knight administered this referenced study but we can’t just throw out the results right? So for those of you still on the fence, let me make a case for why the left coast is the right coast…

+ the weather…we really don’t need any other points because having the feeling of central air & heat while being outside year round is something you can’t get anywhere else…it is like God set the joint to 70 and dared someone to touch it…

+ the best movies…give me a coast that can produce better cinematic awesomeness than baby boy, menace II society, boyz n the hood and friday…I’ll wait as you check your vhs rack…yeah that’s what I thought…

+ later time zone…some may see this as a negative given the opportunity to have east coasters ruin outcomes before they air but being able to follow those same folk’s tweets on vh1’s single ladies to know which scenes in which Stacey Dash’s assets are in full effect is just plain efficient…plus we can stay up to watch the NBA playoffs without dozing off at work the next day…

+ work day…speaking of work, anything scheduled before 9am is not only frowned upon but actually attended in pajamas pants and those ATL beaters elrock sweats out…we don’t really see the point in starting the day so far ahead of our long lunches…

+ the chics…say what you will about the material-ness or plastic surgery but you have to admit there is something going on correctly if your hometown’s baddest chics come here to be 6s and background noise…

+ the ocean…yes the pacific is mad cold but when you compare it to the limited waterviews of nyc not blocked by sky scrapers or the fact that atl only gets to see the ocean when Billy or Frank do concerts there, the cold water isn’t so bad…

+ chucks…they just don’t look right in any other environment…yes I’m looking at you brooklyn…and when you are cleaning your all stars feel free to wear your house shoes in place of them…

+ the parties…elrock did have a point about the parties shutting down early out this way but it makes sense after you’ve spent all day in the sun at a day party…and if parties aren’t your speed, feel free to stop in any spot on the weekend for all you can drink mimosas which is a party in itself…

+ the lifestyle…not only do our starbucks coffee orders sound way cooler but you won’t find another place where keeping a healthy and active lifestyle is not only encouraged but expected…whether it be surfing on the beach or skiing in the mountains, we have it and everything in between to choose from when keeping up that sporty lifestyle that leads to beach bodies year round…

There you have it. Go pack your bags, book your one-way flight and come west my people. We’d leave the light on but you won’t need it with all this sunshine…

I’m sure lolita will end this debate with her take on the east coast/nyc and make some ridiculous argument about the city that never sleeps and empire state of mind but still check it out as we can use the page views…shots fired…

onetrik…a state that’s untouchable like elliot ness…

I wholeheartedly disagree: the coldness of the Pacific SUCKS! Yes, it is that bad. But since there’s more people to play with on the beach (given the short commute), I’m gonna keep dealing with it.

Oh, and regarding the workday – even 9am conference calls are unacceptable. We’re still on our way in, you know b/c folks are laid back about being on time & ish (and the hellish commuting). Except for OneTrik, who is 1 minute early for every darn thing.
